DREAMS OF SPACE - PANORAMIC VIEWS BY MARTIN LIEBSCHER

Martin Liebscher unfolds his visions of space in photographic works of several metres in length. His city–scapes talk to us of the excitement of modern life and describe in a poetic, almost artistic way a world that knows no standstill. On his group portraits, his "family pictures", Mr Liebscher cuts the wide screen format with repeated pictures of himself: A playful game with identities and, at the same time, an ironic analysis of the traditional self–portrait.

In creating the panoramic pictures Mr Liebscher (born 1964) managed to develop his very own photographic language. He alienates the familiar photograph and composes the space using computer technology. That is how he overcomes the classic central perspective that is still applied in modern photography. The TV–documentary "Dreams of Space" is presenting his work for the first time to a wider public. Through the intensive look at selected works and by watching the artist at work in Berlin.
